What is FGR 95?
Hydrocal® FGR 95 is a high-strength gypsum cements specially formulated for use with glass fiber for fabricating glass-reinforced architectural details. This product is an alpha hemihydrate gypsum-based materials, with low water requirements that result in high-strength, high-density pieces.
Is Hydrocal plaster of Paris?
Hydrocal is much stronger than plaster of paris. It also takes lots more detail, and most of all does not ‘slough off’ like plaster of paris. That is important for a long life scenery base. The sloughing of plaster results in lots of dust and chips on a continuous basis.
How strong is Hydrocal plaster?

Can you carve Hydrocal?

The difference between hydrocal and ultracal is that ultracal is harder and denser. On the other hand, hydrocal is a casting plaster that does an excellent job when it comes to holding detail. While hydrocal is easier to work with when it comes to posting casting projects, ultracal is more durable.

Apply a heavy coat and let it dull down; then wipe off excess by rubbing across the grain. After wood filler has set overnight, apply a coat of a clear acrylic sealer and allow to dry. Cement plaster gives a rough surface. Whereas gypsum plaster gives a very smooth finish which makes it compatible with paints. During the application of cement, plaster wastages are high. While during the application of gypsum plaster the wastage is nominal.

Hydrocal is waterproof. Aside from that, it is also weatherproof and scratch-resistant.
Can you paint Hydrocal?
