There is limited space for anchoring which is restricted to seven days in a fourteen day period. Please call the Harbormaster with any questions. Old Harbor is in the center of town and has a small 30 boat marina operated by the Town. Dockage is first come first serve.

Where to Anchor: There are two harbors on Block Island, New Harbor and Old Harbor. New Harbor is on the west side of the island and it is home to three large marinas, 90 town moorings, and a 75-acre anchorage area. Moorings can be rented on a first come first serve basis for $40 per night.

Can you drink on Block Island beaches?
Coolers are allowed on the beaches. However, alcohol is not allowed on “State Beach” If you walk into the pavilion at “State Beach” and walk about 50 yards to the left you will pass a red post in the sand. This marks the end of the “State Beach” (Lifeguard on duty area) and “Scotch Beach begins.
