Why is up called Fighting Maroons?
The new moniker revived the old (vintage 1920s) name Maroons, and the adjective “fighting” was added to describe the kind of spirit that the varsity teams of UP have when they participate in the arena of competitive sports.
How many years can you play in UAAP?
Players who are 26 years old are allowed to play for their universities provided they do not turn 27 before the May cutoff, are still enrolled and have a playing year left. Previously, the league only allowed players up to the age of 25 to play. This rule will be reverted back to normal by Season 85.
