In September you can board a heritage tram to take you on a tour of the Blackpool Illuminations, giving the opportunity to savour a tour of the Lights either from the higher vantage point of a double decker or, if you’re feeling brave, from one of our open-topped boat trams!
What time do the lights come on at Blackpool Illuminations?
Blackpool Illuminations 2021 kicked off on September 3, and will run all the way until January 3, 2022. The lights are switched on every evening, with times differing as it begins to get darker quicker. From October 24, the lights will be switched on every day at 5pm.
What’s the best way to see Blackpool Illuminations?
Park up the car, grab some fish and chips, and walk along Blackpool Promenade to ensure you don’t miss a thing. If you’re unable to walk far or have limited time, we recommend walking the tableaux at the north end of the display. Another great way to explore our Illuminations is by hopping on an illuminated tram!

The full recommended route is approximately six miles-long and should take the average walker an hour and 30 minutes, according to Google Maps.
